Kacey Lee Musgraves is an American artist born in Mineola, Texas on August 21, 1988. Her mother is a visual artist and runs a print shop in Mineola. Musgraves is a country music artist and wrote her first song “Notice Me” at the age of eight. She learned how to play the guitar and mandolin at a very young age. In 2006, she could make demos for money. Her mother was instrumental in her career, taking her to local music festivals where she performed.
Musgraves began her professional career as a country music artist in 2008 when Independent Record Label Triple Pop discovered her. She recorded her first two songs “Apologize” and “See You Again” with Triple Pop, both songs are available online.
In 2012, Musgraves joined Lady Antebellum in their United Kingdom tour and made some performances while on the tour. She signed with Mercury Record in the same year and released her debut single “Merry Go Round.” The song form parts of her album “Same Trailer Different Park” co-written and produced by McNally and Luke Laird and released in March 2013.
In October 2012, ABC television series “Nashville” featured her song “Undermine” in the show. Her album “Same Trailer Different Park” was a favorite among many country music lovers. The album earned her four nomination awards at the “47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards” including the “Female Vocalist of the Year.” She was also nominated in four categories for the “56th Annual Grammy Awards.” The categories were “Best New Artist” “Best Country Album” and “Best Country Song” for the two songs “Merry Go Round” and “Mama’s Broken Heart.” She won the “Best Country Song Category” with “Merry Go Round” and her album won the “Best Country Album” category.
In 2013, Musgraves co-wrote the single “Mama’s Broken Heart,” released by Miranda Lambert. Other singles included in the album “Same Trailer, Different Park” are “Blowin Smoke” and “Follow your Arrow.” Her album became a favorite among the critics. In April 2014, Musgraves was awarded the “Academy of Country Music Award of the Year.”
In June 2014, Musgraves released a new song “The Trailer Song” which debuted on the “Tonight Show” by Jimmy Fallon. Two months later, in August 2014, her album “Same Trailer different Park” was certified Gold for selling more than 500,000 copies. Her singles “Follow your Arrow” was certified Gold while “Merry Go Round” was certified Platinum for selling more than a million copies.
