Karen McDougal is an American model and actress born in Merrillville, Indiana on March 23, 1971. Her mother Carol remarried when McDougal was nine years. She studied tap dance and ballet as a child. She attended River Valley high School, and later the Ferris State University of Michigan majoring in Elementary Education.
In her modeling career, McDougal won the local “Venus Swimwear Swimsuit Competition” in Michigan, which won her a place in the finals in Florida. Her victory won the eye of “Playboy” photographer. Soon after the competition, she was approached for a Playboy test in which she accepted. She did the test and was selected to feature in Miss December 1997 issue. She won the 1998 Playmate of the Year pocketing $100.000, as a result.
In 1999, McDougal appeared on the cover of “Men’s Fitness” magazine becoming the first woman to appear on their cover. She expanded her career to fitness modeling and appeared in several bodybuilding magazines such as in the “Iron Man” and “Muscle and Fitness.” In 2004, she appeared in “Vogue” with fellow playmates Pamela Anderson and Tishara Cousino.
In November 2006, McDougal was one of Playboy trio in the “Celebrity Playmate Gift Guide” pictorial of “Splat” magazine. She also appeared in calendars, magazines, lingerie catalogs among others. McDougal appeared in sexy television commercials for XFL football league on NBC. However, the ads were withdrawn after complaints by the media.
McDougal played alongside Lisa Dergan in “The Arena” in 2001 with the entire production taking place in Russia. After winning a local try out, McDougal went to the 2004 WWE Diva Search Special in the Beacon Theatre, New York. She was eliminated by the judges before selection of the final ten contestants eligible for online voting. In 2006, McDougal appeared as a fitness model demonstrating exercises in training DVD with Valerie Waters, a Hollywood Celebrity Fitness Trainer.
McDougal has hosted several TV shows including “Wild On!” on “E.” She has also appeared on TV programs such as “Lovespring International, Anger Management,” “The O’Reilly Factor”. She has made movie cameos in “The Girl Next Door” and “Raising Helen.”
She is one of the Pharmore Alternatives owners, a company that sells health and wellness supplements. She has promoted the company products wherever she goes. Some of the places she has advertised her company products include the 2011 “AVN Adult Entertainment Expo” in 2011.
McDougal is a motorcycle rider and an animal lover. She resides in Los Angeles and Phoenix, Arizona.
